Weight Loss Diets 2022

Weight loss diets 2022 What Are They?

The Weight Loss Diets 2022 and new year resolution usually consists of looking for a new weight loss diet and figuring out what they are. In reality, they are all doing the same thing and creating a calorie deficit. Now, if you have had a personal trainer or a nutritionist and they have not explained what a calorie deficit is. Then please get your money back as this is the only way to lose weight. It does not matter how much exercise you do or which diet you pick; if you do not put yourself in a calorie deficit, you cannot lose weight.

What will a weight loss diet do?

Now we know we must be in a calorie deficit; the question remains how do we achieve this. Now, a weight-loss diet aims to achieve this deficit, usually without telling you; you are, in fact, in a calorie deficit. Pretty clever in some ways and in other ways quite misleading and in my experience leads to people YO-YO dieting or eating disorders. For example. If you go to a gym or bump into someone who has lost weight, they might say, ‘Hey, have you tried this diet.’ You may be inclined to give it a go which, to be honest, might work, and you can lose weight through a weight loss diet. Diets do work for some but usually not for the long-term, and you end up putting the weight back on. You may have heard this saying before, “eat less and move more” and in some way, I really like it because it shows you don’t need to do anything fancy to lose weight. However, that’s great, but if you have struggled with your food or have had bad experiences with a personal trainer or nutritionist, then it is difficult. What you can do is work with someone over several weeks, which will help you learn long-term behavioural changes towards dietary habits.

Why are you not talking about diets?

So you may have read this Weight Loss Diets 2022 blog post and think why is he not talking about the diets. Well, I or my clients never “diet” per se. Arguably, every time you create a calorie deficit, you are somewhat dieting. Then you get a marketing campaign to make up another diet, and a new trend is set. I can understand why people choose veganism due to ethical reasons and the potential health benefits for those at high risk of cardiovascular disease. I haven’t even mentioned the Gluten-free diet or mentioned the trend of now diary is bad for you because it’s not. What we do have is individuals, and people react differently to different types of foods. This means there may be a certain food that doesn’t quite agree with us. Does that mean you remove completely, maybe, or you could try to figure out why then make a logical decision?

So what now?

So, if you choose a diet that works, great, but think about what you have given up and did you really need to. Should a fitness trainer or nutritionist say not to eat carbohydrates, please slap them. Carbohydrates do not make you put on weight, but they are fundamental in you living a happy life. Always enjoy your food and eat what you like. You can tweak it slightly over time and slowly improve your nutrition. Avoid the big claims that come with the New Year New You and think logically about dieting. Remember, all diets that claim weight loss leads to a calorie deficit.
